MuseumXTD

Encouraging digital thinking in small and medium-sized museums

The project, officially launched in October 2022, explores the challenges of digital transition within small and medium-sized museums and experiments with new working methodologies by associating the Vaud entrepreneurial and innovation environment (start-ups, companies, universities).

MuseumXTD was set up by three partners, the company Concilio, the museums of Pully and the Media Engineering Institute (MEI) of the Haute École d'ingénierie et de Gestion du Canton de Vaud (HEIG-VD). This applied research pilot project is being carried out with the support of the Service des Affaires culturelles of the Canton of Vaud and the Federal Office of Culture.

The project will run from December 2021 to the end of October 2022 so that the impulses and adaptations developed in the emergency in response to the COVID-19 health crisis can be implemented on a permanent basis. The aim of the initiative is to explore the challenges of the digital transition for small and medium-sized museums. It takes as a case study the design of a digital device within the Museums of Pully in the context of the space dedicated to C. F. Ramuz and literature, which is scheduled to open in 2023.

The results of the project will be made available to all museum institutions for their own research and development, and will be promoted through the development of a website. Designed as an information platform, it raises awareness of "digital" issues among museum professionals in the region.
